Hydrogeological Assessments | Underground Storage Tank (UST) Management | Hazardous Waste/Superfund Site Evaluation and Remediation

Site Specific Assessment

Releases of chemicals and petroleum to soil and groundwater can pose a significant risk to human health and the environment, as well as being a costly liability to property owners and lending institutions. Be, PLLC personnel have over 20 years of experience addressing regulatory requirements associated with the assessment and remediation of soil and groundwater impacts and assess the fate and transport of environmental contaminants. Potential impacts typically include, but not limited to: solvents, petroleum, metals, PCBs, pesticides and inorganic chemicals. My teams have consistently developed cost-effective and creative solutions to complex problems grounded in a commonsense evaluation of the problem, facts and project goals. The primary goal of any site assessment is to determine the nature and scope impact to determine the appropriate actions necessary to remediate the asset. Hydrogeological Assessments

Be has extensive training and experience in planning and implementing cost effective subsurface assessments. Be's personnel have performed numerous soil and groundwater evaluation projects. In addition, we have over 20 years of experience in the development and implementation of soil and groundwater remediation projects.

Capabilities include:

  • Groundwater monitoring well installation and sampling
  • Horizontal and vertical assessment of soil/groundwater contamination
  • Aquifer characterization and modeling
  • Evaluation of remedial alternatives
  • Design and construction management of remediation systems
  • System operations and maintenance

Hazardous Waste/Superfund Site Evaluation and Remediation

Complying with federal and state regulations governing site investigation and cleanup activities at sites requiring corrective action under RCRA, or at inactive/abandoned sites regulated under CERCLA/Superfund is typically thought of as time consuming and expensive. With over 20 years of experience evaluating risk and remedial options, as well as the expertise to represent clients during negotiations with regulatory agencies, we can guide you through an effective and cost conscious solution to most any problem. We have worked at a variety of sites/industries including textile (dyeing and finishing, manufacture), wood treating, electrical component and transformer manufacture/remanufacture, oil services industry, explosive manufacture, bulk solvent storage facilities, automotive parts, printing and lithographic operations to name a few.

Experience includes:

  • Development and implementation of Confirmatory Sampling (CS) Plans in response to RCRA Facility Assessments (RFAs)
  • Performance of RCRA Facility Investigations (RFI) and development of Corrective Measures Studies (CMS)
  • Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) development and implementation at CERCLA/Superfund sites
  • Determination of Environmental Indicators

Underground Storage Tank (UST) Management

Current federal and state guidance and regulations with an increased public awareness of environmental impacts from leaking UST incidents have resulted in the need for specific expertise in UST assessment and remediation. Contamination at UST sites varies considerable, with some sites costing hundreds of thousands of dollars to remediate, while other with little or no groundwater impacts may be relatively minor. Our experience includes closure, assessment and remedial actions at industrial, commercial and residential sites. Frequently, UST sites may also have release attributed to aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) or by materials regulated under RCRA or other programs. There are a variety of methods to control the costs of releases from UST systems including expedited site assessment, and the evaluation of alternative clean-up technologies. Close that old UST release once and for all, bring value back to the asset and help the state clear their books of these low-priority incidents.
